For the world of fashion, Pierre Cardin has long been the one responsible for all the most progressive and innovative. In the post-war period, Carden surprised the world with a fresh, abstract view of fashion: it was Carden who created the first unisex items and the first men's ready-to-wear collection, invented colored stockings and transformed clothes into modernist works of art. The Beatles broke into world pop culture in his baggy trousers and collarless jackets, and Cardin created the world's first capsule collection with the Parisian department store Printemps back in the distant 50s.
